Angelia Harrison
At the age of three,Angie begged her mom to attend dance class. Her love of dance began.At age seven,Angie performed her first solo at the H&H Dance Troupe National Showcase. The solo ended to a standing ovation. Her passion for dance was sealed then. Under the direction of Angie Harrison, A Step Above celebrates their 29th year of dance.Danceruniverse named A Step Above as one of the top three competitive studios in South Carolina.
Angie has been fortunate to work with some legendary dancers included in this group ,Frank Hatchett,Savion Glover,Tyce Diorio,Gregg Russell and Nick Florez.
She continues her education through master classes,teacher workshops,and convention classes. She is a graduate of Clemson University. At Clemson, she was the Executive Director of Clemson's performing dance company,Kinetic Theater. She is also a graduate of the Co. Dance Master teachers program. She was named teacher of the year by Dance Makers, Inc. Angie has numerous national choreography awards. Her students have earned National Championship awards since the founding of A Step Above in 1990. Angie is the owner,director,choreographer and teacher for A Step Above. Angie has a passion for dance and her students. Students at A Step Above are not only learning and growing as dancers but as individuals. Angie wants her students to become technical dancers as well as fantastic performers.
Sarah Traylor
Sarah Traylor began dancing at age 3, and hasn't stopped since! She started dancing under the instruction of Angie Towe-Harrison in 1991, and began competing across South Carolina and the East Coast at age 9 as a part of the first A Step Above "Mini" Company. She continued dancing, student-teaching, and competing with A Step Above Dance Academy until graduating high school in 2003, when she began attending Clemson University. While attending college, Sarah was a member of The Clemson Dancers, Kinetic Theatre, and the Clemson University Varsity Dance team, the Rally Cats. The Rally Cats squad performs at all Clemson Football and Basketball Home games, as well as travels to perform at other Universities and major sporting events. She has had the privaledge of performing to support the Clemson University Basketball team at the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) Championship in both 2006 and 2007, as well as travel with the Clemson Football team to dance at the 2005 Champs Sports Bowl and 2006 Music City Bowl. Sarah was a member of the Varsity Dance team when they became Collegiate National Champions in 2007 for competing in the National Dance Alliance (NDA) Competition in Daytona, Florida, placing 5th overall. Throughout her dancing career, Sarah has had the privaledge to study at the Broadway Dance Center in New York, as well as perform all along the East Coast. She has performed multiple times for Disney in Orlando, Florida, and also danced at Universal Studios. She has studied under known choreographers such as Frank Hatchett, Hank Crabtree, Sam Fiorello, Steven Boyd, Collegiate and Pro Sports choreographer John Peters, and NBA/NFL/Collegiate Choreographer Eric Little. Her love and experience of dance includes Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Modern, Contemporary, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Pom, and Zumba, although she continues to take master classes at conventions and loves to learn new genres of dance as often as possible! Sarah returned to teach and choreograph at ASADA in 2008, and she is also the master ballet instructor for the the A Step Above Company teams. She is so excited to have the chance to return to her home studio and dance family. She thanks Ms. Angie Towe-Harrison for the opportunity to choreograph and grow at this wonderful studio!
